S.B. 2258  RELATING TO PUBLIC CONTRACTS              LRE/GOH, WAM
        Requires contractors under a public contract to
        provide their employees with specified minimum wages
        and days off.  Provides for enforcement and penalties.
        Exempts nonprofit institutions whose chief executive
        officers earn wages at a specified level.

S.B. 2471  RELATING TO GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY         GOH/LRE, WAM
        Requires the attorney general and the director of
        labor and industrial relations to install employer
        hotlines to the child support enforcement agency and
        the unemployment office, respectively, for employer-
        only access.

S.B. 2509  RELATING TO PROCUREMENT PRACTICES         GOH/LRE, WAM
        Requires purchases under contracting law to be awarded
        to vendors who pay prevailing wages.

S.B. 2057  RELATING TO LIVING WAGES                      LRE, WAM
        Requires public contractors with the State to pay
        their employees living wages.

S.B. 2230  RELATING TO MINIMUM WAGE                      LRE, WAM
        Raises minimum wage to $7.50 on 7/1/2000, $8.50 on
        7/1/2001, and $9.50 on 7/1/2002.

S.B. 2313  RELATING TO WAGES AND TIPS OF EMPLOYEES       LRE, WAM
        Protects employees who receive or may receive tips or
        gratuities during the course of employment from having
        these amounts withheld or credited to their employers.

        DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.

FOR THE LRE ONLY HEARING, persons wishing to testify should
submit 30 copies (single sided, stapled, without holes) of their
testimony to the vice-chair's office, Room 217, State Capitol, 24
hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at
586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at
least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

shared use by members of the public.
